Daxxify and Dysport are prescription wrinkle relaxers that temporarily soften frown lines between the eyebrows. Their formulations and duration evidence differ: Daxxify’s pivotal trials reported a median of roughly 24 weeks with frown lines rated none or mild, while Dysport’s prescribing information describes effects lasting up to four months. These separate studies cannot tell you which product will work better for your face. Daxxify trial report, Dysport prescribing information.
Calista Aesthetics offers both in Santa Ana’s South Coast Metro. Start with your goals, medical history, previous treatment experience, and comfort with the proposed maintenance plan.

How the formulations differ
Both contain botulinum toxin type A and reduce the release of acetylcholine, a messenger involved in muscle contraction. Reducing activity in the treated muscles can soften movement-related frown lines. Daxxify label, section 12.1, Dysport label, section 12.1.
Daxxify includes the RTP004 peptide. Dysport contains human albumin and lactose and may contain trace cow’s milk protein. These differences matter when reviewing allergies; they do not establish that one is safer for everyone. Daxxify label, sections 4 and 11, Dysport label, sections 4 and 11.
Bring any previous reaction to an injectable treatment to your consultation rather than assuming a different brand will be suitable.
Onset is different from the full result
In SAKURA 1 and 2, Daxxify’s median onset was three days: the first day patients reported at least a one-point improvement in frown-line severity. Dysport’s manufacturer reports median onset of two to three days in its pivotal studies, based on patient assessments. SAKURA trial paper, Dysport clinical data.
First improvement differs from the developed result. Daxxify’s larger, open-label repeat-treatment study reported peak response rates between weeks two and four. Dysport’s pivotal trials evaluated primary treatment success at day 30. These assessments do not promise a fixed “full effect” day for everyone. SAKURA 3 study, Dysport label, section 14.2.
Ask when to assess your result and arrange follow-up. Mention upcoming events before booking so you can discuss timing without assuming either product will be ready on a particular day.
How long do the results last?
Daxxify’s SAKURA studies measured how long lines at maximum frown stayed none or mild using both investigator and patient ratings. The medians were 24.0 and 23.9 weeks. Return to original pretreatment severity was a different endpoint, with medians of 27.7 and 26.0 weeks. Neither means every patient stays completely motionless for six months. SAKURA trial report.
Dysport’s label describes effects lasting up to four months. Its manufacturer also reports a post-hoc analysis showing some improvement at five months, using the less stringent endpoint of at least a one-grade improvement. That differs from Daxxify’s none-or-mild duration endpoint. Dysport label, sections 2.4 and 14.2, Dysport clinical data.
Different populations, assessments, and study designs limit comparisons. These trials compared each treatment with placebo, not directly with the other brand. Discuss what counts as a useful result for you: less visible frowning, a particular appearance, or when you would want another assessment.
Both labels say treatment should occur no more frequently than every three months. This is a safety boundary, not an automatic maintenance schedule. Daxxify label, section 2.1, Dysport label, section 2.4.
Compare the treatment plan and total cost
A per-unit price does not compare these brands directly. Their potency units are product-specific and cannot be compared or converted between products. Your injector determines the product-specific plan. Daxxify label, section 5.2, Dysport label, section 5.2.
Ask for the total quote for the proposed product and areas, what follow-up includes, and how future visits would be priced. Build a maintenance budget after seeing your response; longer study duration does not guarantee fewer visits or lower annual cost.

Candidacy, side effects, and safety
Both require medical assessment. Their cosmetic approvals cover moderate to severe glabellar lines: Daxxify in adults and Dysport in adults under 65. Daxxify FDA trial snapshot, Dysport label, section 1.2.
Neither should be used with an injection-site infection or a known allergy to any botulinum toxin product or the selected product’s ingredients. Dysport is also contraindicated with cow’s milk protein allergy. Disclose swallowing or breathing difficulties, neuromuscular conditions, facial surgery, all medicines and supplements, and previous toxin treatments. Tell us about pregnancy, pregnancy plans, or nursing. Calista’s Dysport guidance says we do not provide Dysport during pregnancy or nursing. Discuss Daxxify candidacy with your provider, including pregnancy plans or breastfeeding. Calista’s Dysport guidance, Daxxify Medication Guide.
Possible side effects include headache and eyelid drooping with either. Daxxify’s label also lists facial weakness; Dysport’s lists injection-site pain or reactions and eyelid swelling, among others. This is not a complete list. Daxxify label, section 6.1, Dysport clinical safety information.
Both carry a boxed warning about toxin effects spreading beyond the injection site. Seek immediate medical help for trouble swallowing, speaking, or breathing after treatment. Symptoms can occur hours to weeks later and can be life-threatening. Daxxify boxed warning, Dysport boxed warning.

Common questions
Frequently asked questions
Is Daxxify automatically the better first treatment?
No single brand is the automatic choice. Discuss your goals, comfort with a potentially longer result, health history, and total plan. You can take time to decide after consultation.
Can I switch from Dysport to Daxxify?
Discuss a switch with your provider. Tell them the exact product, treatment date, and any reactions. Both Medication Guides ask about other botulinum toxin treatment within the last four months. Daxxify Medication Guide, Dysport Medication Guide.
Are forehead lines and crow’s feet approved uses for both?
Their FDA cosmetic indications cited here are for glabellar lines. Other cosmetic areas require discussion of off-label use, risks, and expectations. Frown-line duration figures should not be promised for another area. Daxxify FDA snapshot, Dysport label.
Does the same unit count mean the same treatment?
No. Product-specific units cannot be converted between brands. Compare the proposed treatment and total quote rather than matching numbers. Daxxify label, Dysport label.
Can I have Dysport with a cow’s milk protein allergy?
Dysport is contraindicated with cow’s milk protein allergy. Tell your provider before treatment; another brand still needs an ingredient and reaction-history review. Dysport contraindications.
Does Calista offer the Botox brand too?
Calista currently offers Daxxify and Dysport and does not carry the Botox brand. Our Dysport treatment page explains the current options.
